The following description was submitted by the event organizer.
Hundreds of people will visit downtown Milwaukie for the most practical holiday event in the Northwest: The annual Umbrella Parade. The Umbrella Parade happens rain or shine. You’ll see Milwaukie-area residents carrying brightly decorated umbrellas covered with lights, tinsel and more.
Local businesses have donated items for prize packages, which are awarded for children and adult winners in three umbrella categories: Most Creative, Most Festive and Most Milwaukie. The Milwaukie High School Band will provide music, and Santa will lead the parade.
Everything is free, including hot chocolate and apple cider from the Rotary Club of Milwaukie, cookies donated by Bob's Red Mill and grilled cheese bites from the Franz Grilled Cheese Machine.
