The following description was submitted by the event organizer.
Sing Out, Portland! is a benefit concert intended to showcase the best parts of a city that we love here in the Pacific Northwest. It will highlight and remember all the good that Portland has to offer while bringing together perfect strangers and treating them as their own neighbors. The night will consist of three to four local musical artists at The Old Church, a beautiful 300-seat venue which also happens to be a historic landmark.
Every single dollar from ticket sales, after covering the cost of the venue, will go towards local non-profit Compassion Connect. Compassion Connect facilitates a number of life-saving efforts, one of which is to help prevent women and men from being enslaved in the horrific world of sex-trafficking.
The entire event, aside from staff at the Old Church, will be volunteer run. None of the artists will be getting paid for their time and talents; this is purely a labor of love for the city of Portland and the people who encompass it. Because this is an event intended to showcase the city of Portland, all artists, volunteers and sponsors involved will be Portland-based. This will be a special night, intended to bring the city together out of a spirit of compassion, celebration and a re-kindled sense of community.
