The Fete de la Bastille is the West Coast’s largest Bastille Day celebration. The festival is free and open to the public and attracts as many 8,000 participants.
A fun tradition during this festival is the Annual Waiters Race. The popular Portland Waiters Race returns to Bastille Day and will start at 2 p.m. Racers will be competing for $2000 in prizes (mostly cash). Cheer them on as they circle the square three times while balancing glasses of water on a tray — it’s not easy! The winner will combine the best time with the fewest spills.
French-themed menu options will be plentiful, along with wine, beer and specialty cocktails. Enjoy live French-themed music throughout the day along with kids activities, local arts and crafts vendors.
