The following description was submitted by the event organizer.

Enjoy Portland's annual Dragon Boat Festival, featuring dragon boat racing along with food vendors, a beer garden and more. DragonSports USA Portland Dragon Boat Festival features over 40 Oregon, Washington, and California teams.

The Portland Dragon Boat Festival is a family-friendly event including food and merchandise vendors, a beer garden, and 500 m races, on the Willamette River in Downtown Portland. This year’s event marks the 25th anniversary of the festival. The Portland Dragon Boat Festival is a great way to wrap up summer festivities. The energy at the event is invigorating, and whether you are a family wanting a fun outdoor community event to watch or a participant, you will have a phenomenal time. And the kids (and adults) will love to have their faces painted via “Face Painting by Nicole.”

DragonSports USA is a Portland non-profit organization with 2,500 members that paddle recreationally and competitively throughout the year. Teams at the race include the Golden Dragons, a “55 age and up” team with an average age of 72 years, and several cancer survivor teams, including Portland’s Pink Phoenix Breast Cancer Survivor team. Races will begin Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. The Portland Fire Department will open the race with their fireboat spraying water into the sky along the racecourse.
