The following description was submitted by the event organizer.

QDoc is the only festival in the U.S. devoted specifically to queer documentaries.

Founded in 2007 by Russ Gage and David Weissman and directed by Molly King and Deb Kemp since 2017, QDoc has shown award-winning films fresh from Sundance, Berlin, Hot Docs, Tribeca, Amsterdam and other top-tier festivals. We have shown historical films, personal stories, artist biographies, experimental work and topical films dealing with current controversies.

Visiting artists have included prominent filmmakers from all over the U.S. and from as far as Italy and Australia, who have participated in lively discussions after the screenings. We have hosted emerging filmmakers and 3 Academy Award-winning directors, enabling dynamic audience interaction with artists.

Documentary as a form of expression is as vital and energetic as it has ever been, and QDoc brings the highest caliber of films – and their makers – to share with Portland audiences.
