The following description was submitted by the event organizer.

Inspired by Portland’s food cart culture, Opera a la Cart is a mobile performance venue that brings live opera performances directly into the community spaces where people gather. Designed and built by architecture students at Portland State University, the cart features a fold-out stage and a “menu” of operatic specials of the day to be sung by local artists. You’ll find them at farmers' markets, city parks, neighborhood festivals, street fairs, wineries and other public events throughout the Portland metro area and region.

Do you know the building blocks of opera? Learn what makes opera, opera in this fast-paced, interactive edutainment concert suitable for elementary school audiences and their families. This event series is free and open to the public.

“Fancy an “O Sole Mio” with a side order of “Figaro”? There is, this being Portland, a cart for that.” – Portland Monthly.
