Established in 2008, the Portland Lindy Exchange (PDXLX) is the biggest annual swing dance weekend in Oregon. Join us for 3 days of celebrating the music and vintage swing dances of the early 20th Century including Lindy Hop, Charleston, Balboa, and Collegiate Shag.

The Music
PDXLX 2020 will feature LIVE swing and vintage jazz from some of the best bands in the Pacific Northwest. This year, we are honored to feature bands from our neighbors from the north and south. Seattle’s Jonathan Ng will start the swingin’ on Friday night, while Eugene’s Stealin’ Apples Jazz Band will keep everyone on their feet Saturday night.

We’re also bringing you renowned international swing DJ Nick Davis, who will be spinning up sounds on Saturday evening.

On Sunday, we’ll have a PDXLX returning favorite – a super fun outdoor dance at Director Park featuring Portland swing stars, the Hot Lovin’ Jazz Babies.

Based on feedback from previous years, we’ve moved the Friday and Saturday evening dances to Portland’s Village Ballroom — Portland’s charity-focused historic ballroom, located above The Oregon Public House. Built in 1909 as an Odd Fellows Hall in the Woodlawn neighborhood of NE Portland, the Village Ballroom has an open ballroom with a beautiful mahogany bar, greeting room, climate control, and two ADA-accessible restrooms. The Ballroom also has excellent floors for swing dancing, which we care most about!

In addition to the official activities planned as part of PDXLX, we’ve included information on our Schedule of Events page about other places to swing out during your stay in Portland, including our PDXLX 2020 Unofficial Kick-Off Party at Thursday Swing! on Thursday, April 9.
