The following description was submitted by the event organizer.

Autumn Knight’s performances create spaces for intimacy between the audience and the performer. Her triptych NOTHING#15: a bar, a bed, a bluff is a three-part exploration of the Italian concept of dolce far niente, or “the sweetness of doing nothing.”

Each successive work in Knight's series contracts its social structure: NOTHING#15: a bar transforms PICA's warehouse space into a host club, where performers engage in various modes of interaction with audience members. In NOTHING#15: a bed, a two-person performance unfolds in a shared bed, meditating on the possibility of rehearsing for the loss of a loved one. The third and final installment in the series, NOTHING#15: a bluff presents Knight alone, responding improvisationally to a sparsely-filled space, its features, and its audiences.

Additionally, don't miss the free exhibition NOTHING: all at once, now on view at PICA through December 21, 2024. As an accompaniment to the performance series, NOTHING: all at once is an evolving installation that features the artist’s drawings alongside objects from each performance, as well as shifting sound and lighting elements. Knight invites audiences into a moment of respite from the creation of meaning as this experimental project crosses disciplines to consider the self in relation to intimacy, impermanence, and impossibilities.
