Streetwear (a term used to describe everything from graphic tees to upscale outerwear) has arrived — and is here to stay. Portland’s laidback-yet-chic aesthetic makes it the ideal home for streetwear shops, from small boutiques to world-famous brands. Are you looking for sweat-ready gear or tailored pieces that can transition from day to night? These Portland streetwear shops will help you do it in style.

Portland Streetwear Shops

Compound Gallery

Mixing streetwear, pop culture and modern art, Compound Gallery is one of Portland’s most innovative shopping locales. The business offers jackets, caps, sneakers (with a focus on skate brands), art prints and consigned vintage streetwear. If you want a statement piece, Compound in downtown Portland is your place — they’re not afraid of color or pattern.

Laundry

Located in Old Town Chinatown, Laundry specializes in vintage jerseys, sportswear and streetwear from the ‘80s and ‘90s. Owner Christoper Yen curates a sportswear collection including pieces from Nike, Adidas, Tommy Hilfiger and more. You’ll also find house-brand clothing and throwback Trail Blazers gear.

Portland Gear

Launched by designer Marcus Harvey in 2014, Portland Gear is the unofficial outfitter for the city. Their Portland and “P”-branded shirts, hats and jackets make ideal souvenirs. Limited-edition runs and collabs keep fans coming back. Past partners have included the Trail Blazers, Timbers and Thorns, Breakside Brewing and many others.

Bridge & Burn

Functional design, beautiful detailing and excellent fit are the hallmarks of Bridge & Burn. This industrial-style boutique crafts clothing for all genders. In true Portland fashion, the shop features plenty of layering pieces like collared shirts, utility vests and rain-resistant jackets. The West End shop’s signature flair can be found in their patterns and high-quality textiles.

MACHUS

Hard-to-find designers from around the world are featured at MACHUS, an East Burnside shop catering to style-conscious men. MACHUS’ overall selection has something for almost every guy (including drop-crotch, wide-leg trousers for the most fashion-forward). In 2017, the socially conscious business launched a hoodie collaboration with artist Taravat Talepasand; all proceeds go to the ACLU.

Nike Portland

Founded in 1964, world-famous Nike is headquartered west of Portland in Beaverton. Swoosh lovers can seek out its latest shoes, apparel and accessories at the Nike Portland showroom downtown. If you want to score a deal, the Nike Factory Store in Northeast Portland offers discounts for the whole family.

Wildfang

Women who frequent the menswear section for their preferred styles and silhouettes — and anyone who prefers a gender-neutral look — will adore Wildfang. Launched in 2013 by two former Nike employees, the brand (whose name is German for “tomboy”) boasts masculine-inspired pieces made to fit smaller and curvier bodies. Find expertly tailored chinos, blazers and bombers alongside muscle tanks, shirt-dresses and trademark “Wild Feminist” T-shirts at the West End shop. The shops also sell a range of shoes — perfect for giving patriarchy the boot.

Yanagida Projects

Sleek and streamlined, Yanagida Projects offers a mostly-neutral palette of caps, T-shirts and jackets. Subversive phrases like “Closers Only,” “Audit Your Circle” and “Catch & Fillet” give a unique stamp to everyday menswear. The North Mississippi Avenue shop is family-owned and budget-friendly.
