Annual Mother’s Day events in Portland

Mother’s Day Brunch at the Oregon Zoo

Each year, the Oregon Zoo celebrates both animal and human moms with a Mother’s Day brunch. Participants enjoy a delicious spread of starters, salads, breakfast entrées, pastries and desserts (not to mention sparkling wine and mimosas). After brunch, families can stroll around the zoo to say hello to other great mothers, like Asian elephant Rose-Tu. (She’s mom to 8-year-old Samudra).

Mother’s Day Rhododendron Show and Sale

A decades-long tradition, this mother’s day flower show and sale at Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden is a local favorite. Take your time strolling through rows of beautiful blooms — and pick up a bouquet for mom before you leave.

Run Mama Run

Active families can celebrate Mother’s Day together at Run Mama Run, a 5k/10k run/walk in Southeast Portland’s Mt. Tabor Park. The stroller-friendly jaunt is followed by family yoga classes and fire truck activities with the Portland Fire Department. There’s also crafts, raffle prizes, food for purchase, free coffee and a kid’s planting table. As a bonus, all proceeds go to Family Forward Action, a charitable organization supporting working families in Oregon.

Camas Mother’s Day Plant & Garden Fair

Take a trip to downtown Camas, Washington, for the Mother’s Day Plant & Garden Fair, where a gorgeous array of trees, vegetable starts, herbs and flowers await. Buy and plant your mom a living gift at the free potting station and discuss gardening questions with plant experts. Proceeds from the fair support educational scholarships for local women pursuing higher education or returning to school.
