Three self-guided tours let you choose your own farm-to-table adventure.

Canby Farm Loop

Spring and summer flowers highlight the colorful Canby Farm Loop. Stroll through the rainbow fields of Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm, the sweet-smelling gardens of Lavender Thyme Herb Farm and 40 acres (16.2 ha) of blooming buds at the country’s largest dahlia grower, Swan Island Dahlias. Pick your own snack straight from the vine at South Barlow Berries, then admire vines of a different kind at Christopher Bridge Wines, home to award-winning pinot noirs. In August, local color comes in the form of bucking bulls and carnival rides at the Canby Rodeo and Clackamas County Fair.

Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival

Colorful fields reminiscent of Holland burst with acres of tulips in full bloom at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival in Woodburn.

Farmlandia Farm Loop

A nearby option, the Farmlandia Farm Loop includes 20 stops just south of Portland. Begin with a wholesome bowl of steel-cut oats at Bob’s Red Mill Whole Grain Store, Restaurant & Bakery, a locally owned institution that stocks an extensive assortment of organic whole-grain foods. Fir Point Farms offers a farm stand loaded with just-picked strawberries, peaches and pumpkins, tranquil nature walks and made-from-scratch seasonal pies. Animal lovers can nuzzle miniature donkeys, sheep, llamas and Arabian horses at eco-friendly Tollen Farm. For more DIY fun, try a class at The Kitchen at Middleground Farms, a recreational cooking school focused on traditional skills like cheese-making, fermenting and preserving.

Molalla Country Farm Loop

Animals abound along the 35-mile (56 km) Molalla Country Farm Loop; visitors can meet majestic elk at Rosse Posse Acres Elk Ranch, buy sheepskin blankets at SuDan Farm and stock up on soft, handspun yarns from Alpaca Prairie. Fair Oaks Farm offers bushels of U-pick crops like carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes and other ultra-fresh veggies, while fruit fans can harvest famously sweet Oregon Marionberries at Schmid Family Farm. For the ultimate farm-sourced meal, look for Field & Vine’s Dinner in the Field events throughout the summer and fall, which feature private tours of area growers, local beers and wines, and six-course meals served al fresco on the farm.
