Motorcoach Parking

From on-street parking areas to permits to loading zones, our motorcoach parking guide covers the information you’ll need to park a motorcoach in Portland.

On-Street Parking

On-street motorcoach parking areas are marked with signs that say “No Parking This Block Except Buses”; the specific areas are subject to change, but currently include the following:

  • Downtown:
    • The east side of Southwest 14th Avenue, between Southwest Jefferson and Southwest Salmon streets.
      • Parking area length: approximately 120 feet (36.6 m).
    • The north side of Southwest Clay Street, three-quarters of a block between Southwest Naito Parkway and Southwest First Avenue, near the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront.
      • Parking area length: approximately 120 feet (36.6 m).
  • The Pearl District:
    • The east side of Northwest Station Way, which is close to the Residence Inn by Marriott Portland Downtown/Pearl District — two areas, separated by a 20-foot (6.1-m) no-parking area.
      • Parking area one length: approximately 100 feet (30.5 m).
      • Parking area two length: approximately 130 feet (39.6 m).

Per the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT), “These areas are first-come, first-served and may not be available. In these areas, buses or motorcoaches may be parked for longer durations beyond active loading and unloading, but not for longer than 24 hours.” Longer-term parking will have to be “accommodated on private property (i.e., parking lots, vehicle storage facilities, truck stops, etc.).”

PBOT’s Temporary Street Use Permitting site has further information regarding parking, permits, restrictions and more.

Loading and Unloading

  • 15-minute loading zones, indicated by signage, are located around or adjacent to most hotels in the downtown core area.
  • A 5-minute motorcoach loading/unloading zone is located near the Hilton Portland Downtown on Southwest Salmon Street, between Southwest Fifth and Sixth avenues. The zone is approximately 70 feet (21.3 m) long.

Reserving Space to Load and Unload

If you’re interested in securing a specific parking space to load or unload a motorcoach on a given date, you can apply for a temporary, non-metered parking use permit. Per PBOT, “A temporary street use permit is intended for active passenger loading and unloading only and cannot be issued to store a bus or motorcoach.”
