Members of Travel Portland’s staff joined with more than 150 volunteers for a SOLVE clean-up of downtown Portland on Nov. 15. Led by Jared Dayton, General Manager of Dossier Hotel, volunteers from 25 downtown hotels picked up litter throughout downtown, starting at Director Park and working up to Burnside Street between Southwest Third and Fourth avenues. The clean-up finished at the Porter Hotel, where refreshments were provided for volunteers.
Titled “Hospitality With Heart,” the clean-up was a group effort, with participants “dedicating some time and resources to making downtown a better place and showing that the hospitality industry is united in making this city better for our guests and residents alike,” says Dayton.
Sponsors, including Ruby Jewel, Migration Brewing, Better Bar, Water Avenue Coffee, Ferment Brewing and Canary, passed out snacks, treats and swag to volunteers throughout the event. The clean-up was hosted by SOLVE, a local organization that leads volunteers on projects to pick up trash, plant native trees and shrubs and remove invasive plants throughout Oregon, providing volunteers with all the necessary equipment, tools, maps and resources.
