Northwest Portland Shopping

National retailers, local boutiques and specialty shops line Northwest 23rd Avenue.

Updated Dec. 15, 2020 2 min read Northwest / Nob Hill

In the Northwest neighborhood (also known as Nob Hill or the Alphabet District), century-old Victorian and Craftsman-style storefronts housing unique boutiques stand alongside national retailers, interspersed with coffee shops and on-trend restaurants and bars. In short, it’s a shopper’s paradise.

Gem Set Love, a go-to spot for estate engagement and wedding rings, is also a great place to treat yourself to a vintage or locally designed bracelet, necklace or pendant.

National Brands

Northwest 23rd Avenue’s national retailers, which include Lucky Brand, Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn and Urban Outfitters, offer great opportunities to score big-name purchases with no sales tax.

Apparel

Lena Medoyeff is known for her modern, elegant bridal designs, but her boutique also stocks her distinctive fair-trade silk “Lena dresses” ideal for any (special) occasion. Nearby Sloan Boutique sports a savvy sales crew and up-to-the-minute alt-designer dresses, jackets and accessories at reasonable prices. At Oddball Shoes, size matters — specializing in men’s footwear sizes 13 and up, their ample name-brand selection would put a smile on Big Foot himself.

Oregon-based gallery and boutique Twist stocks an impressive array of handcrafted jewelry and art pieces, and Gem Set Love, a go-to spot for estate engagement and wedding rings, is also a great place to treat yourself to a vintage or locally designed bracelet, necklace or pendant. And a pinnacle of Portland’s thriving DIY scene, Tender Loving Empire presents a plethora of gifts, t-shirts, jewelry, local music, housewares, cards and much more.
