Brandi Carlile
An accomplished singer/songwriter whose yearning, probing spirit is matched by her powerful, soaring voice, Brandi Carlile straddles the line between country and rock, and has become a favorite among Americana and mainstream fans as well as a trusted collaborator of foundational artists such as Joni Mitchell and Elton John. She first made a splash with her eponymous debut album in 2005, then continued to work steadily and reliably, cresting with the 2018 album By the Way, I Forgive You, which ultimately took home half of the six Grammys it was nominated for. Her visibility elevated, Carlile capitalized on her stardom by joining with Amanda Shires, Maren Morris, and Natalie Hemby in the country supergroup the Highwomen, whose 2019 debut helped underscore Carlile’s stardom and artistic depth. She returned to her solo career in 2021 with the Grammy-winning album In These Silent Days, which was followed by the 2022 companion set In the Canyon Haze. In 2025, she and Elton collaborated on a joint album, Who Believes in Angels? (featuring the Oscar-nominated original song “Never Too Late”), Before Carlile went solo again later that same year with the reflective “Returning to Myself.”
