The following description was submitted by the event organizer.

The award-winning documentary Classroom 4 takes audience members inside a course taught within a prison, where incarcerated students and students from a nearby college come together each week to study the history of crime and punishment in the US. The Inside-Out Prison Exchange class consists of undergraduates from Lewis & Clark College in Portland and incarcerated students at the Columbia River Correctional Institution (CRCI), who learn together as peers. The course explores concepts such as mercy, justice, the evolution of the carceral state, and prison abolition. There will be a post-screening Q&A with L&C Professor Reiko Hillyer, who teaches the class featured in the film, along with formerly incarcerated students from the class, moderated by Portland author Lois Leveen. The Free Society People’s Library will be on hand, circulating relevant reading materials to the community.
