The Umbrae Noctis drag and burlesque festival is delighted to bring you workshops hosted by Sandria Dore and Throb Zombie.
November 22: The Art of Stage Presence — Sandria will share her tips and tricks for holding space during a performance and connecting with the audience. You will also enjoy some fun and silly interactive exercises to work on your art. If you’ve ever seen this powerhouse performer onstage, you know how captivating they are. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to study with one of the best.
Sandria Doré is an award-winning burlesque performer from Portland, Oregon. Her interactive and acrobatic style of neo-classic burlesque has taken her to Finland, London, Montreal and across the United States. Powered by a whole lot of extra and espresso, she is “The Rose City Showgirl”.
November 23: Hump and Grind: Masc Movement and Choreography — Hump and Grind is an energetic and sexy dance class for kings or anyone who is ready to MOVE. Taught by one of the most prolific, current dancing drag kings in the industry and an iconic himbo, Throb Zombie. You’ve seen them on The Boulet Brothers DRAGULA season 5…and now you can learn from them live and direct, right here in Portland. While this class dares to challenge you, all levels are welcome. Come gyrate, grow, and get ready to sweat with the boys.
Class will entail:
- A stretch/warmup
- Introduction to posture/masculine body movement
- Transitions/specific moves that can work for all dance levels, from beginner to advanced
- Commanding space with presence
- A short choreography sequence
Students must bring clothes that allow them to move comfortably, and are very encouraged to bring a water bottle and knee pads.
