Love's Pure Light
A treasured Portland tradition since 2007, IM's annual holiday concert features songs for the season composed to illuminate the darkest days of the year. This program includes both medieval and contemporary works for female voices – music sure to inspire hope and joy.
In Mulieribus (the Latin phrase meaning “among women”) – is a female vocal ensemble dedicated to strengthening community through the art of music. The ensemble specializes in works written before 1750 and champions new repertoire by female composers and for women’s voices.
The ensemble has presented a highly acclaimed annual concert series since 2007, appears frequently as a featured guest ensemble throughout the region, and is regularly broadcast on nationally syndicated radio shows such as Performance Today. The ensemble’s CDs have garnered praise from outlets such as The Oregonian and Early Music America.
IM has recently reached beyond its early music focus to highlight works by women, seeking to raise the profile of female composers who remain underrepresented throughout the landscape of classical music. IM also sponsors free workshops/classes, performs benefit concerts, and offers free concert tickets to those served by local human services organizations as part of an ongoing commitment to serve the community and make concerts accessible to all.
