“One of those rare musicians who seems able to tackle almost any repertoire” (Chicago Classical Review),

Saturday: Vladimir Feltsman launches the SOLO Piano Series with a program exploring miniature masterworks from Mozart, Beethoven, and Schubert. Mozart’s dramatic, improvisatory Fantasy in C Minor will immediately engage both heart and mind, reminding us of the magic and endless possibility of the solo piano. And under this consummate pianist’s fingers, Beethoven’s 7 Bagatelles and Schubert’s 4 Impromptus — with their playful, spontaneous spirit — will transport you to the intimate late-night salons of early 19th-century Vienna.

Sunday: Vladimir Feltsman unlocks the power of Bach’s Partita in B-flat Major — a tribute to the Baroque signature dances that run a joyous gamut, from upbeat and cheerful to utterly ecstatic. The program’s second half offers some of the most sublimely beautiful music ever written for the piano, including a selection of Chopin’s yearning, nostalgic nocturnes, and Beethoven’s “Pathétique” Sonata — a perfect vehicle to display the breadth of Feltsman’s musicianship, as he deftly navigates the stormy outer movements and risks piercing listeners' hearts with the unparalleled beauty of the central adagio's soaring melody.
