STRAUSS and NIELSEN: HOPE AND THE HUMAN SPIRIT

Music Director Laureate Carlos Kalmar leads a program exploring the invincibility of the human spirit. Strauss's songs of farewell, with their radiant lyricism, offer hope and solace in the autumn of life. At the same time, Nielsen's thrilling Fourth Symphony looks to transcend the anguish of World War I, culminating in a spectacular duel between two timpanists.
