The following description was submitted by the event organizer.

Blind Insect Gallery presents "Where the Wild Things Grow", featuring artwork by Portland based artist Shannon Amidon. Opening reception February 27th, 5:30-9:00pm as part of Last Thursday Art Walk in the Alberta Arts District. Exhibit runs until March 21st.

Luminescent, richly layered and detailed encaustic (molten beeswax) paintings honor untamed landscapes and strive to bring focus to the importance of habitat conservation. Never before have we seen such an alarming decline in biodiversity on our planet. There are fewer and fewer places left on earth that have remained untouched and unharmed by humans. Amidon’s paintings of wild plants, grasses and trees remind us of the beauty and wonder of nature and that by conserving and protecting these habitats, we are ensuring that future generations can enjoy our natural world and the incredible species that live within it.

In addition to original paintings Shannon will also have a limited number of smaller, original cyanotypes available featuring wild flowers and plants.

"Where the Wild Things Grow” Opening Reception on Thursday, February 27th, 2020, 5:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Sangria and light snacks will be served.
