The following description was submitted by the event organizer.

Marat Grinberg, professor of Russian and comparative literature at Reed College, spent a month in Moscow this summer on a research grant from the Moscow Jewish Museum and Center for Tolerance. In his Noon Time Talk, Marat will discuss the Jewish museum and Jewish life in Moscow, his general impressions of the Russian capital, where he hasn’t been for 26 years, and his research book project on post-Holocaust Soviet Jewish culture – the Soviet Jewish bookshelf – how the Soviet Jews’ reading preferences and practices, from translations to science fiction, shaped and maintained their Jewish identity.
