The OregonMade Creative Foundation has teamed up with four of the best independent cinemas in Portland, The Northwest Film Center, The Hollywood Theatre, Clinton Street Theater and Cinema 21, to announce the third film of The Portland Circuit, a unique program designed to give locally produced, #OregonMade feature length films a short theatrical distribution window in the city.  Next up is Tara Johnson-Medinger’s beautiful coming of age story: My Summer As A Goth.

After the sudden death of her father, 16-year-old Joey Javitts is sent to stay with her eccentric grandparents while her author mother sets off on a book tour. Bored and sad, Joey promptly falls for Victor, the beguiling goth boy next door. Victor, along with his merry band of misfits, transforms Joey into a brooding, mausoleum-loving, full-fledged goth. While her grandparents and a visiting best friend try to understand who this new girl is, Joey’s search for identity and love lead her down a transformative path filled with heartache and white makeup. This premiere feature film from director Tara Johnson-Medinger is a coming-of-age story about social alienation in adolescence and that first bittersweet summer heartbreak. Tara Johnson-Medinger will be in attendance.
