The following description was submitted by the event organizer.

Shakespeare’s infamous tale of political gluttony and supernatural vengeance finds refreshing new life in this piercing, stripped-down adaptation that creates a taut, contemporary thrill ride. Three women tackle all the roles, with captivating shape-note singing lending a haunting soundtrack to the rise and fall of Scotland’s most notorious royal assassin. Perennially relevant and breathtaking, Macbeth is a drama that demands to be seen — whether it’s your first or five hundredth time.

Run Time: Approximately 100 minutes, no intermission.

From Oregon Arts Watch:

"When shall we three meet again, in thunder, lightning, or in rain?" Or how about in every scene thereafter? In a way, that’s the conceit behind this compact take on one of the greatest of Shakespearean tragedies, with an edited script by Lee Sunday Evans and original, shape-note vocal music by Heather Christian, all performed by a cast of three women. “The idea was that the three witches were telling this ancient story,” Evans told the blog The Fifth Wall. “I looked at that play as an origin story about the corrupting force of power.” Adriana Baer directs in Portland Center Stage’s energy-focusing basement studio."
