The Friends of Chamber Music presents Gould Piano Trio, with guest clarinetest Robert Plane. British-based Gould Piano Trio has remained at the forefront of the international chamber music scene for a quarter of a century. Their many appearances at London’s Wigmore Hall and their diverse discography have included masterpieces of the repertoire, but also many neglected gems. Clarinetist Robert Plane joins the Trio for two captivating programs.

Monday, Jan. 20:

Frühling – Clarinet Trio
Huw Watkins – Four Fables for clarinet and piano trio
Dvořák – Piano Trio in F minor, Op.65

Tuesday, Jan. 21:

Haydn – Piano Trio No. 22 in A Major, Hob. XV:9
Ravel – Piano Trio in A minor
Messiaen – Quartet for the End of Time

"Clarinetist Robert Plane joins Gould Piano Trio for two separate programs of classical chamber music. Familiar works — trios by Haydn, Ravel and Dvořák — complement performances of newer works for clarinet, piano, violin and cello by contemporary British composer Huw Watkins and rediscovered late-Romantic Viennese composer Carl Frühling. French modernist Olivier Messiaen’s beloved, genre-defining wartime masterpiece “Quartet for the End of Time” closes the second evening." – Oregon Arts Watch
