Within quick driving distance of Troutdale, Gresham and Portland, this is a dog walker’s paradise. Great views, an extensive trail system, a huge dog off-leash area, a bird blind and easy mountain biking make this site a quick retreat from the city. Nicknamed Thousand Acres, this park at the confluence of the Sandy and Columbia Rivers is actually closer to 1,400 acres, making it one of the largest natural areas in the region. It is heavily used and well loved. Bring the kids, the dog, and the mountain bikes, and have a grant time exploring the mosaic of bottomland riparian forests, meadows, wetlands, and beaches.
