Caravan – The Tiny House Hotel is the first tiny house hotel in the United States and is located in Northeast Portland’s popular and funky Alberta Arts District. The six tiny houses are built on trailers with wheels and range in size from 100-200 square feet. Each has its own unique, creative and artistic features, plus a bathroom with a flush toilet and hot shower, electric heat, and a kitchen with a microwave, refrigerator, hot plate, and all of the basic kitchen and bathroom amenities.
The tiny houses are located in an urban lot and form a circle around a central gathering space. There is a barbecue, fire pit, Adirondack chairs, a hammock and lots of funky, locally made metal, stained glass and recycled art. Caravan is located just steps from some of Portland’s favorite establishments for foodies, such as Radio Room, Bye and Bye, the Alberta St. Public House and the famous Grilled Cheese Grill.
Within three blocks you’ll find cafes, pubs, an organic food co-op, a bike co-op, shops, galleries, tattoo parlors and more. Sip a cocktail on a rooftop bar, have a gluten-free grilled cheese inside a funky school bus, and listen to local music at a non-smoking pub, all within one block of Caravan. And if you are in town on the last Thursday of the month, the infamous Last Thursday art walk is just outside your front door!
