Winter is just around the corner and so are Travel Portland’s plans to drive more off-season visits (November through March) to the city. Last year’s “Portland is Happening Now” advertising campaign, funded by the Tourism Improvement District (TID) was a rousing success.
The campaign generated $70.1 million in incremental visitor spending, according to an ad-accountability study by Longwoods International. Additionally, total demand (rooms sold) at TID hotels rose to 4.5%, easily surpassing STR Analytics’ pre-campaign forecast of 0.4%. What’s more, hotels in every part of the city, including near the airport, Jantzen Beach, Central City and East Side, shared in the positive results.
