Portland’s hospitality and tourism industry recognizes that what is good for Portland is also good for visitors. As our city and region continue to address its affordable housing crisis, some members of our community are left unsheltered and vulnerable to the impacts of living on the streets. The unintended impact is the perception that Portland is not a safe and welcoming city for some visitors. Because the situation is complex, it is confusing for many businesses to know what really is true about the situation, what to do to be a part of the solution and where to go for help if and when they need it.
Travel Portland and our stakeholders are choosing to become a part of the solution by working to truly understand what is impacting the housing crisis in our region and identifying ways to support vulnerable communities. At this Lunch & Learn, we will address what is being done to support people experiencing homelessness, provide practical tips to be an industry supporter and discover steps Travel Portland has taken to become a part of the solution. Expect to walk away with practical tips and messaging for frontline team members to address visitor concerns.
Elephants Catering & Events will provide lunch.
Lunch & Learns are held at noon in Travel Portland’s Hawthorne Bridge room.
