The Jantzen Beach area in North Portland offers great freeway access, putting you within a short drive of popular Portland neighborhoods like Mississippi/Williams, where you’ll find great food, beer and shopping; the Alberta Arts District, home of the monthly Last Thursday festival; and St. Johns, where Cathedral Park is scenically set below the beautiful St. Johns Bridge. You’re also just minutes from Vancouver, Wash., and the historic Fort Vancouver.

In Jantzen Beach, riverside rooms come at reasonable prices and it’s a breeze to hit the road for trips to the Oregon Coast or Columbia River Gorge. You don’t have to go far to get out into nature: Sauvie Island and Oregon’s Columbia County are also nearby.

Nearby entertainment options include the Expo Center (served by MAX light rail), Portland Meadows and Portland International Raceway. Nearly 30 big-name stores await at Jantzen Beach Center. Golfers can get on the links at Heron Lakes Golf Course, just minutes from Jantzen Beach. And one of the Portland region’s best-kept secrets, the Smith and Bybee Wetlands Natural Area, is also tucked into this corner of North Portland. The largest urban wetlands in America offers exceptional wildlife viewing and can be explored by foot or by boat.
