These organizations present arts so varied, so unique that they simply can’t be categorized — they must be experienced.
Portland Institute for Contemporary Art (PICA)
Through artist residencies and commissions, talks and workshops, and the annual Time-Based Art (TBA) Festival, PICA constructs a citywide platform for the creation and discovery of contemporary art. The TBA Festival, held every September, includes contemporary performance, dance, music, new media and visual arts projects.
Portland Center for the Performing Arts
Recognized as one of the top 10 performing arts centers in the nation, the Portland Center for the Performing Arts (PCPA) hosts more than 900 performances in its five downtown performance spaces (see below) each year.
The PCPA’s 21 resident companies include the Portland Opera, Oregon Symphony Orchestra, Oregon Ballet Theatre, Portland Youth Philharmonic, Oregon Children’s Theatre, Tears of Joy Puppet Theatre and Broadway Across America.
The main PCPA box office, located at 1111 S.W. Broadway, is open Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
