Audubon Society of Portland presents The Lost Bird Project - Audubon Society The Lost Bird Project
A collection of strikingly beautiful sculptures by artist Todd McGrain, The Lost Bird Project honors the lives and loss of five extinct birds. The sculptures are oversized bronze renderings of the Passenger Pigeon, Carolina Parakeet, Heath Hen, Great Auk and Labrador Duck.Each bronze sculpture stands between 5 and 7 feet tall and weighs between 400 and 700 pounds. McGrain created the birds at such a dramatic scale and of a material that calls for visitors to touch the art and make the birds present.

The exhibit can be viewed at Tom McCall Waterfront Park at S.W. Montgomery and S.W. River Drive.

Art in the Pearl 2010 - Art In The Pearl
Art In The Pearl®, the annual arts festival, occurs every year on Labor Day weekend in early September. This festival fills the Northwest Portland Park blocks with art, theater, music, and hands-on activities for people of all ages.

Mount Angel Oktoberfest 2010 - Mt. Angel Oktoberfest
There is no more appropriate setting for an American version of the "Old World" Oktoberfest than in Mount Angel, Oregon. The small community was settled by German pioneers in the 1800s and readily reminds one of the rich Bavarian countryside. Oregon's oldest and best-loved Oktoberfest began in 1966 as a traditional harvest festival to celebrate the bounty of the earth and the goodness of creation. It is Oregon's largest folk festival.

The Slayer and Megadeth “American Carnage” Tour that was originally scheduled to take place at the Memorial Coliseum on January 19th, has been moved to the Washington County Fairgrounds on Saturday, September 4th at 6pm. Tickets purchased for the Memorial Coliseum Slayer and Megadeth show will be honored at the Washington County Fairgrounds.

Museum of Contemporary Craft presents Ai Weiwei: Dropping the Urn (Ceramic Works, 5000 BCE - 2010 CE) - Museum of Contemporary Craft
Featuring a selection of ceramic works and photographs ranging from 1993 to the present, Ai Weiwei: Dropping the Urn will offer viewers a focused look at Ai's iconoclastic appropriations of historic clay pots and porcelain vases. Ai Weiwei: Dropping the Urn will include examples of Ai's unprecedented use of Neolithic and Han dynasty vessels as "readymades" that the artist subjects to a variety of procedures. These include marking 2000-year-old clay urns with hand-painted inscriptions of the "Coca-Cola" logo, dipping them into vats of industrial paint, smashing them on the ground in performances for the camera, and grinding the vessels into powder.

Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon - Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon
Registration is open to runners and fast walkers who can keep a pace of 15:00 per mile or better and finish in less than 3hr 30min. You may run a shorter distance by competing in the 2-person relay.

The Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon is a destination event held on Labor Day weekend. We encourage coming with your friends, family and running partners and spending time to enjoy this beautiful area. The heart of the Willamette Valley is in the northern part (Yamhill County) and is less then an hours drive from downtown Portland. The race is staged on Sunday but we have activities planned beginning on Thursday in Portland.
